Planning outfits for Thanksgiving can be a very different experience for different people. Some families do a very fancy Thanksgiving while others put on a more casual meal. My family has always done something in the middle. I can’t wear jeans to my Thanksgiving dinner table but I don’t have to wear heels. I usually opt for a skirt with a blouse or sweater or I opt for a dress that hits above the knee. I styled 3 outfits for what to wear on Thanksgiving so you’ll be set for every type of get-together! This post is from 2016 but I just updated it with all brand new links for the same or similar items available this year! Now you know what to wear on Thanksgiving 2017. Happy shopping!
What To Wear On Thanksgiving
What to Wear to a Fancy Family Thanksgiving
I love dressing up at the holidays so I think it’s quite fun to attend or host a fancy Thanksgiving. I’d wear a dressy skirt (also love this skirt!) and a silk blouse or a winter appropriate dress (no sundresses even if you’re on the West Coast! – similar, similar, similar) with heels and a necklace.
Dress (old from 2016 – similar from 2017 (comes in multiple colors): one, two, three, four) / Perfume / Necklace / Skirt (old from 2016 – similar for 2017) / Heels (old from 2016 – similar from 2017: one, two)

What to Wear to a Casual Friendsgiving
A casual Friendsgiving can be the perfect way to spend the holiday. For this type of gathering, I’d pair a blouse (old from 2016 – similar for 2017) or a sweater (old from 2016 – similar for 2017… I’m obsessed with fair isle!) with black or dark tailored jeans (no ripped jeans – it is a holiday after all!) or a skirt (old from 2016 – similar for 2017). A perfect way to balance out a casual versus dressed up look is to dress half causal and half dressy. A blouse is dressier than a sweater so pair it with jeans. A skirt is dressier than jeans so wear it with a sweater.
Necklace (old from 2016 – similar for 2017) / Watch (old from 2017 – similar from 2017: one, two, three) / Lip Gloss / Blouse (old from 2016 – similar for 2017) / Jeans / Sweater / Skirt (old from 2016 – similar for 2017)

What to Wear to Thanksgiving with your Significant Other’s Family
The key here is to not stick out. You are joining another family’s gathering so there will already be enough attention on you that you don’t need to wear a statement making outfit. Wear neutral colors and be conservative, tasteful, and yourself. I’d wear a simple dress with a cardigan and closed toe heels or flats (black or gold). You can feel out what shoes other women will be wearing or use your best judgment based on what you know about the family. I also might add tights into the mix if I lived in a cold place (I have and love these tights!). Lastly, don’t forget to add in a little bling.
Dress (old from 2016 – similar for 2017: one, two) / Cardigan / Gold Clutch / Black Clutch / Bow Earrings (old from 2016 – similar for 2017: one, two) / Black Flats (old from 2016 – similar for 2017: one, two, three) / Gold Flats (old from 2016 – similar for 2017: one, two) / Black Heels / Tights (optional)
