There is nothing quite as clean, classic, and timeless as a preppy shirt dress. I love the structured silhouette that a shirt dress provides as it gives your standard sundress an elevated, smart look. This particular preppy shirt dress does everything for me… it’s beautifully structured and fitted on the top but then has a gorgeous tiered skirt on the bottom. Navy is one of my favorite colors too so when I saw this dress at the Vineyard Vines store in Charleston, I knew I had to have it to round out my dress season wardrobe! Vineyard Vines has SO many adorable pieces this summer that I find myself shopping there more and more as of late! I can’t wait to see what they have in store for fall.
This Shirt Dress is a staple.
I wore it on my trip to the Hamptons, which immediately followed my time on Nantucket. I go to the Hamptons every summer to visit my aunt and uncle – it is some of my most cherished time each summer! They are the most wonderful hosts and my aunt cooks the most beautiful dinners ever! Knowing we wanted to be home for dinner, Sarah, Edwin, and I set out one day for East Hampton to enjoy lunch at EMP Summer House. It was so yummy and sits on the most amazing property. If you dine there, be sure to plan time before or after your meal for outdoor games!
Edwin laughed at us because every day on Nantucket and in the Hamptons, Sarah and I stepped out of our rooms looking like we coordinated our outfits (p.s. we didn’t!). This day was no different! Sarah’s gorgeous dress is from my favorite Atlanta store (where Sarah lives!), Ann Mashburn. I think I need to borrow it soon because it’s so effortlessly cute!
You can probably tell by now that this structured straw basket bag has been in constant rotation for me this summer (as seen here and here). I love the round handles and love the fact that the bag stands up on it’s own (I tire of purses that droop and collapse all over the place). The best part is that the purse is on sale now!
