Truth be told, I love neutrals and colors equally. I feel like it’s not uncommon to come across neutral lovers who don’t love colors as well as color lovers who don’t love neutrals. I can’t get enough of both! In the summer, I really love wearing colorful outfits. As such, I wanted to share a bunch of colorful summer outfits to inspire y’all to dress colorfully for the rest of the summer. August really is the height of summer after all!
Colorful Summer Outfits
Floral Mini Dress
A cute ditsy floral print mini dress is the perfect colorful addition to your summer wardrobe! The multicolored floral pattern is just enough of a cheery punch. I wore this dress on Martha’s Vineyard and received so many compliments on it!
Block Print Dress
Block prints are certainly having their moment in the spotlight but it is for good reason! Who can resist a gorgeous block print textile? I got this pretty block printed dress (also available here) at the beginning of the summer and have been wearing it ever since because it is so comfortable. I love the smocking around the waist (great for my growing belly this summer!) and the ruffle trim detailing.
Coastal Inspired Stripe Dress
I wore the most adorable flowy stripe dress (great for my growing bump!) from a recent summer collaboration between a brand I love dearly, Sail to Sable, and a blogger who I’m lucky to count as a friend, Jennifer Lake. The whole collection is to die for! The collection comes in an extended size range of XXS – 3X and a portion of all sales go to Feeding America to aid in hunger relief! Well done ladies!
Honestly, I love all blue and white dresses but I have a particular affinity for this blue and white dress because the gingham print is so fantastic for summer. This gingham dress from Persifor fits in in every destination! Can you tell where these photos were snapped? It looks a lot like Europe to me but it’s not… it’s La Jolla, California!
Off the Shoulder Dress
A midi is my preferred dress length so I had fun searching for a few for this post. I’m wearing the sweetest off the shoulder pink stripe dresswith a waist tie (since I don’t really have a waist right now, I tied the tie in a bow above my bump) from a brand I recently discovered and have since become obsessed with, Mii (more Mii here). My dress also comes in green and white stripes as well as blue and white stripes so there is a color combo for everyone. I styled the dress with my timeless J.Crew denim jacket and the chic, easy, affordable braided slidesI’ve been wearing all summer long. This dress is a WINNER!
V-Neck Ditsy Floral Print Dress
This is the perfect colorful dress for a summer day date! When it comes to searching for the perfect day date sundress, I have a few brands I often gravitate toward. One such brand is Faithful the Brand, which is the make of my dress! I always love the fit of their dresses and love the ditsy floral prints the brand often releases.
Not So Mellow Yellow Dress
There is no denying it, yellow is an IT color this summer. What’s my favorite way to wear yellow? Why with a bright yellow dress, of course! A yellow midi dress is such a knockout piece to have in your closet because you can throw it on at any given time, on any given day and feel comfortable! I love the silhouette the waist tie creates. P.S. the dress is on-sale!
Smocked Gingham Dress
I picked up this gorgeous smocked green and white gingham dress earlier this summer because I knew the smocked dress style would be perfect with my growing bump and because I couldn’t resist the gingham print. Smocking is one of my favorite silhouette styles so I adore this dress.
Flutter Sleeve Dress
A flutter sleeve or puff sleeve dress is such a win in my book! They add such a beautiful touch of femininity to a dress. I go for them all summer long, especially when they are done in a floral print.
Everyday Stripe Dress
Simply put, this is a perfect stripe dress! It is comfortable, cute, and super easy to throw on for a summer day. Transition it from summer to fall with a pair of sneakers and denim or military jacket (also love this one)!
Floral Colorblock Dress
This dress is always on heavy rotation in the summer as it is so flowy and comfortable. I always reach for flowy silhouettes when it’s hot outside. I think the color-blocked floral pattern of the dress is adorable too! It is by a wonderful feminine brand called Petersyn but I think the print looks like it could be from a high-end designer like Brock Collection. I hope you like it!
Pastel Plaid Dress
Summer always makes me so happy that I could burst! I love to dress to reflect my happiness, which is where pretty colorful pastel plaid dresses comes in. Have you ever seen a cuter summer dress look?!
Patterned Wrap Dress
It’s impossible to resist the bright, happy, dress pattern of this Persifor wrap dress. It’s everything! To me, Persifor is such a happy, positive, and empowering brand. Every time I slip into a Persifor piece, I feel like a million bucks! Sometimes wrap dresses can be tricky because they fail to stay in place and lie flat; however, this wrap dress has enough structure to it that it fits beautifully and doesn’t gap/hang around my chest. For me, that’s a major win!
Blush Plumb Linen Top
This happy, lightweight blush plumb colored linen top is on major sale so it’s the perfect piece to scoop up for the second half of summer! It’s impossible to not love linen in the summer, especially colorful linen! I wore this top in Carmel, CA last summer and have since worn it a ton.
Cotton Candy Colored Fleece
I was drawn to this fleece I scooped up because of the adorable boatneck. I think the boatneck style elevates the fleece to give it that chic touch, making it more than just a fleece. I’ve honestly worn mine, in ‘Ice Blue,’ to brunch, to dinner, to a meeting, to the dog park, to the beach on Sullivan’s Island, and to sleep. Haha! It also comes in a bunch more colors.
I adore everything about a playful yet charming printed skirt! Pretty printed skirts can actually be hard to come by so when you find a beautiful one, it is that much more special. I wore this printed skirt from day to night in Carmel, CA last summer and couldn’t have been happier.
Pink Bow Sandals
These pink bow sandals might be the sweetest shoes in the world! Bows add a feminine touch to everything so I love the vibe the sandals give off. These shoes are so easy to slide on with any outfit! I promise you will get your worth out of them.
Gingham Block Heel Sandals
Gingham sandals are an easy way to add a bit of punch to a summery outfit. My gingham sandals are from an adorable collaboration from last year between Draper James and M.Gemi so they are sadly sold out but I found some other similar options below.
I hope this post gives you some colorful summer outfit ideas for the next few warm months ahead! Thanks so much for reading! xx
